India reached to a mammoth score of 622/7 at the end of their first innings. Pujara,Pant and Jadeja helped India to reach to this huge total. None of the Australian bowlers were able to pick wickets at the regular intervals and break the partnerships. It was seen that they struggled to get them out. Cheteshwar Pujara missed to score a double hundred and was dismissed by Nathan Lyon for 193. Vihari played a good little cameo of 42 runs.
Rishabh Pant played a scintillating knock of 159 runs off 189 balls and he remained not out too. He shared a 204 run partnership with Ravendra Jadeja who scored 81 runs after which he was clean bowled by Lyon. Pant became the highest Indian run scoring wicket-keeper in Australia breaking the record of Dhoni. Nathan Lyon was the only bowler to pick up wickets on day 2. The Indian batsmen completely dominated the Australian bowlers and the aussies were also sloppy in the field. The Australian openers were able to survive the 10 overs they faced and scored 24 runs. India could have got their first wicket if Pant had not dropped the catch of Usman Khwaja. We will see how Australia will respond on Day 3 so as to get themselves into a winning position.
