Indian Premier League 2019 Updates

IPL Updates

The BCCI has announced that the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL) will be held in India starting from 23 March. The full schedule of the IPL is not out yet. According to the reports, the final of the  IPL will be held around 15 May 2019. Soon, BCCI will reveal the whole fixtures of the league. Earlier, it was said that the IPL might be held outside India i.e. in the United Arab Emirates just like it was held in 2009 and 2014. In 2009 the tournament was played in South Africa and also in 2014, the first half of IPL was played in UAE due to the federal elections in India. This year the Lok Sabha elections are in May-June and so, they will clash with the IPL. However, BCCI gave good news to the fans that in spite of the elections IPL will be held in India. This year BCCI has planned that it will add 4  extra venues as a backup for the matches which can be used when a venue can’t hold matches due to the elections.

The auction for IPL was held in December 2018 in Jaipur and a total of 60 players were sold. Varun Chakaravarthy, who is a youngster from Tamil Nadu was bought by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 8.4 Cr and Jaydev Unadkat too was bought by Rajasthan Royals for the same price. Some big names went unsold like Brendon McCullum, Dale Steyn, Corey Anderson, Cheteshwar Pujara etc. Yuvraj Singh too was unsold earlier but later he was bought by Mumbai Indians for his price of Rs 1 crore. Chennai Super Kings will be defending their title in the 12th edition of the IPL.
